Aussie Rules: Fraser on a limbo

FraserDespite four changes before tonight’s clash with Essendon, Aussie Rules turns uncertain as Josh Fraser remains stuck on 199 games and does not seem to be able to fight his way back for Collingwood.

Paul Medhurst, Tarkyn Lockyer, defender Nathan Brown, and the newbie Jarryd Blair are all coming into the side, meanwhile Fraser has another week to spend in the VFL.

He hasn’t played since round 12 with the AFL, and yesterday he trained with the senior group.

Coach Mick Malthouse said last month that Fraser was ”very close” to being called back, but being able to find a spot for him seems difficult, with only two home-and-away games after tonight.

Johnson and Hall ready for Aussie rules

aussie rulesIn Aussie rules football the Western Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade really believes that veteran pair Brad Johnson and Barry Hall will both be able to secure contracts beyond their present deals.

34 year-old Johnson is currently on a one year contract but after enduring a frustrating season with his lower leg problems that kept his participation down to just nine games, who knows what will happen to this Aussie rules player.

According to Eade, Johnson managed to maintain his pace and that that was a key factor in determining if he was capable of enduring an 18th AFL season of Aussie rules football.

Aussie rules’ Steve Woodhouse Out

Aussie-rules-matchThe West Coast Eagles Aussie rules football club will shortly embark on a nation-wide search for its new list manager, while a very critical end of year exchange period appears for the rebuilding of the club.

The Eagles stalwart Steve Woodhouse has been head of the club’s list management and also player’s contracts since Neale Daniher took over as Aussie rules football manager two years ago, but Woodhouse, a long-serving administrator is turning into a part-time role.

Daniher said that the role of list manager was in fact one of the most senior positions within the Aussie rules football department and that it would only grow in its prominence when the competition expands to 18 teams.
